Back in October I joined Orange Theory Fitness, it's a group fitness class centered around high intensity training. As a workout noob (or is it newb?) I decided I would offer some tips on some essential workout gear that every workout beginner must have.

Workout Gear

  • Everyone needs a great sports bra - when I first started I just used sports bras from Target and Walmart and to be honest - if you have any sort of boobs at all these bras are a bad idea. I found myself looking in the mirror only to see a pair of saggy boobs. Yuck! Luckily I found a great easy supportive bra from Athleta - you can find my favorite bra here
  • Wet wipes in your gym bag are a lifesaver. I am always on the go and sometimes I need to wipe off all that sweat before and after my workout so I can run to the store after and stay fresh.  Plus these wipes are just fun, you can purchase them here.
  • Find a good deodorant...and keep one in your car one in your gym bag. You never know never know.
  • As a beginner you don't want to spend a lot to money on workout clothes and I found some of my favorite workout pants at Old Navy! They are inexpensive and comfy. My favorite pants are the HIGH RISE - they are amazing. You can jump, run, row, squat and your always covered and your pants stay up. You can find my favs here
  • a foam roll. I never knew how sore I could be,  and this foam roller helps alleviate sore muscles. The best way to describe a good foam roll is - "it hurts so good." This one from Nike is cute and textured to hit pressure points.

Are you into working out? Any favorite gear I need to try? Comment below.

Do Blondes Have More Fun?

Blonde hair don't care.

I have been wanting to go blonde for awhile now and I blame it on Khloe Kardashian. I have been lusting after her locks ever since she starting transitioning toward the lighter shade over the past couple of years. Call me crazy but as I get closer to 30, I realize that the lighter hair colors seem to help ease the aging process and tend to make me look a little younger. I've done the ombre thing for awhile and I have LOVED it, but I have an itch for something new.

I purchased the ever famous Olaplex and Brooke is going to try it out on me- (review will be coming soon). For those of you who don't know about Olaplex, it's a fancy product designed to help the bleaching process to not be as damaging. If you don't believe the hype check out Guy Tang's YouTube videos. You will be amazed, this girl's hair is FRIED and it looks amazing after using Olaplex.

Will keep you updated! What new hair trends are you dying to try? The lob? I love that one too.

Waves for Days!

Hi! I have started following a hairstylist youtuber and I love her tips. Everyone always wants those "lived in" waves. I think it is hard to obtain this look. Even when you are trying to make it look like you didn't try ... it still looks like you tried. HA! Obviously you don't have to take the tips in her video to the fullest. But i really think she does achieve that effortless, day old hair wave. Check out the video below and let me know what you guys think!

For Just $6

Hi gals! I found a steal at Target while doing a tad bit of shopping this weekend. How gorgeous is this E.L.F blush palette and for only $6? It comes with 4 colors that are perfect for spring. Each blush was pigmented and offered a good amount of color.

These photos were taken in natural sunlight to show you the true colors of each blush. There are two blush palettes available - one in light and one in dark. I picked up the light palette and I'm so glad I did.

Talk to the Mask!

Hi Dolls!
It's review time here at Everyday Girls! My family always tells me my hands are SO dry. I admit I have dry hands & I admit I wash them a lot! But it stems from my high school job of working in a bakery. I took a food handlers class and learned about how many things can be transferred from your hands to other things. Your hands interact with so many things it is important to keep them clean not only with just food. Even in beauty when you are dealing with your eyes and face its important to have clean hands. Anyway, I was at Target and came across this hand mask.
I decided last night I was going to give it a go. The package comes with two folded up gloves with moisturizing product in each. You keep the gloves on for 20 minutes. My hands got really hot in the gloves but when they came out they actually were softer. For me I probably would have to do this treatment a few more times to get full results but I could definitely tell a difference.

This product retails under $5 so it is super affordable. Overall I think you could also just use a home remedy. Buy yourself a tub of vaseline and some gloves and leave it on while you watch a movie at home.  Let me know if you have tried this mask!

Along with all the million products you can use to keep your hair soft there is one thing that gets over looked a lot .... THE POWER OF A TRIM. How do you know when you need a trim you may ask? I am going to share with you 3 tips to let you know ... it is time!!

1. The first hint is time. The average time you should wait between cuts is 6-8 weeks. I know this seems excessive but think of the damage you put your hair through on a daily. It is important to nip those split ends in the bud before it becomes a bigger problem. If you absolutely have to wait longer I would try not to go longer than 3 months.

2. You have nailed a certain style over the last two years and your hair isn't cooperating. After so long your hair can become a limp noodle. It has been blow dried, flat ironed, curled over and over and it just does not want to work anymore. It can also be from the longer hairs weighing your style down. Either way, it could be a sign you need a cut.

3. When your hair is overwhelming full of split ends. Split ends are detrimental to healthy hair. Split ends mean exactly that. Your hair has "cracked" open and it could split all the way up the hair shaft if it wanted. But the most damaging thing about split ends are the fact that the ends of your hair will break off. Your hair shaft is not as strong when its split into two therefore the probability of your ends breaking off is high. I hear a lot of clients complaining that their hair is "not growing" and it usually is because of this fact.

I hope you enjoyed these tips! Now go get a trim!

Spring Beauty Lusts

Spring Beauty Lusts

Every time around this year I get an itch to go spring shopping. I want new clothes, new shoes and  most importantly - new makeup. I long for soft colors on the eyes and lips that make me look and feel feminine. This year there are some new products I have been DYING to try and some old products that need to be repurchased.
The new Nars Dual Intensity Blushes look absolutely amazing. I honestly want to buy them all! They come in lots of shades and colors too.
FRESH Sugar Lemon Body lotion smells oh so wonderful and is a very fresh and clean scent.  It's a #1 seller.
NYX, I cannot say enough about how much I LOVE their lip products. I saw these lip pencils in Ulta the other day and picked up a few. For the price? Might as well buy them all.
My skin has not been my friend as of late. I heard this product is a great anti-inflammatory and works wonders on pesky zits.
bareMinerals is know for their natural beauty foundation, and this new Complexion Rescue looks just as nice as their other products.
Finally, the Hourglass Modernist Eyeshadow Palette. This would be a total splurge as I do not need more eyeshadows. But these palettes and colors look as beautiful in real life as the do on this screen.
