Perfect Brows Require Perfect Products - Part 1

Tuesday, April 22, 2014

I love a good brow, the eyebrows of the beautiful Cara Delevingne, Lucy Hale, and Nina Dobrev cross my mind.

That being said not all of us are blessed with perfect brows. I most certainly am not. But I feel that every women can take what brows they do have, and make them work.

First, you must have the right products to achieve the perfect brow. Below are the products that are a MUST!

1. Tweezers. For those of us that can't afford a monthly wax. Tweezers are a girls best friend and allow for precise removal of hair. Tweezerman are the best, just don't waste your time with other brands. If you feel comfortable to wax your own brow,  then...get it girl!

2. A spooly. Basically a fancy word for a brush that looks like a mascara wand.  This allows you to brush your brow hair into place and trim any excessively long brow hair. Which brings me to my next  item, brow scissors. I purchased the spooly & scissors in a kit together at Sally Beauty Supply, but you can purchase them here.

3. Color. There are multiple ways to fill-in your brows, with a pencil, shadow or a colored brow gel. Whichever you prefer make sure you pick the correct color. DON'T GET SOMETHING TOO DARK. This just makes your brows look unnatural and weird. It's best to stick with two shades lighter than your natural hair color, and stick to more ashy colors. Warm colors tend to look fake. The key is to make the brows look natural and not like you colored them on with a permanent marker (unless that's what you're going for).

4. Brow setting gel. This keeps the brows in place after you done all that hard work of making them look good.

Now, go off and get your products ready because part 2, will be a tutorial!

And...guess what?! We are doing another Giveaway!!!! Go follow us on Instagram for the details!

Summer hair

Sunday, April 13, 2014

As far as summer hair is concerned - ombre is alive and well dolls! Bright and light ombre that is! Everyone knows the hair tip of lighter for summer and darker in the winter. I just did my gorgeous friend Romina's hair and I love how it turned out! Take a look if you are needing some hair inspiration!

Obsessed w/ Seche Vite

Sunday, April 6, 2014

Shiny, fast-drying, and wonderful. All adjectives to describe what I like to call the "ultimate topcoat".   As many of you know, I am a huge fan of gel polish due to my job and frequent hand washing. But recently, I have wanted to paint my nails the old fashioned way because I am too lazy to pull out my gel nail kit.

I have heard rave reviews about Seche Vite and those review are all true. This stuff helps your polish dry in RECORD TIME! My absolute biggest pet peeve is painting your nails only to have them ruined by a slight bump. You all know this has happened to you before!

Seche Vite also has incredible shine, someone at work even asked me if I had gel nails because of how shiny my polish looked.  SCORE!

If you are a DIY manicure girl like me, this is a must purchase. I found my Seche Vite at Sally Beauty Supply and Ulta.

Accessory Love

Saturday, March 29, 2014

Thought I'd drop a line and share some of my favorite spring accessories. I am really into the bohemian look, and I think I can achieve that look with these pieces.

You might be shocked to see a Michael Kors watch in here when describing a "bohemian" look. But This watch, WOW,  the best money I ever spent. It goes with everything. I am completely in love with it. This watch also comes in all silver, gold and rose gold. I chose two tone because I do wear a lot of gold jewelry.

The necklace is from Free People and is one necklace with multiple chains. Totally bohemian.

Finally, this last piece is a beaded headband that I found at a store that was going out of business for $10. I am sure something like this could be found anywhere.

I hope you enjoy!

Braids For Days - Goodbye Top Knot!

Wednesday, March 26, 2014

I have always loved the Top Knot. I think it is so chic and it is so easy. I have started to out grow the Top Knot though and was looking for something to replace it. I needed something that looked like more effort but wasn't. I am sure we can all agree that when your hair is down you feel more confident. I know braids have been in style for awhile now, but when I wear them I feel like a little kid. I decided to give it a go anyway. I am in love. First of all braids are fast to do, which means they are a great replacement for Top Knots. Second messy braids are in style which means hairs can hang out around your face. This gives great framing to the face and creates the illusion that you tried a little harder to  look presentable. This also gives the impression of your hair being down which gives more confidence as I stated before. Third they are super stylish right now and who doesn't want to be in style?

These are some of my favorites - all photos are from Pinterest:

Before & After

Wednesday, March 19, 2014

I did it, I cut my hair.  I have to laugh at these pictures, for starters in my "before" picture I look presentable and my "after"not so much. I basically took my before picture as I was headed to the salon and the after picture at night after I had washed my makeup off and took my contacts out. A little backward considering when you see those ADS for weight loss, the people always look glam in the "after" shot.

Regardless I do love my haircut,  you can see in the previous post I had a ton of dead ends. The new haircut adds some volume and dimension with lots of layers. I was going to cut some straight across bangs, but decided against it, because I was still on the fence. The girls at the salon made a good point by saying that in the summer I will regret having sweaty bangs on my face.

Overall, it wasn't exactly what I was wanting but I still love it. The color is beautiful in person, but is not what I was really going for, I am hoping that it will fade with some washes.

They styled it by round brushing it, and used the Phyto brand products.

I bought a bunch of new product from Phyto and Oribe to test out too, so that post will be going up after I try it all out!

Ashley
