Better than Sex, by Too Faced

The invention of mascara is probably one of the best things to ever happen. Of course behind the obvious, like flushing toilets and electricity. But if I was stranded on a desert island, I wouldn't mind a tube of mascara to keep me company.

Mascara is the one thing that makes me look awake, opens up my eyes, and makes me all around feel more like a woman.  Better than Sex Mascara by Too Faced is pretty high up on my all time favorite mascaras.  It adds volume and length and the brush isn't rubber which is something I really hate. With one coat of mascara, you will have nice defined lashes. With two coats, lashes that are just thick and luscious. Below you will see pics of my eyeball with no mascara and with varying coats of Better than Sex.   At $23 I think this mascara does a great job and holds up pretty well throughout the day.

Love is in the air ... Babyliss LOVE!

I'm sure you all know about my profound love for Babyliss by now. I love their tools. I love their flat irons, curling irons, and especially blow dryers! My hair is crazy curly and somehow their tools just work well with my hair. I had been sharing a GHD flat iron with Ashley which I loved as well. But when I got married I needed one of my own. I have owned the lower cost Babyliss irons which don't work as well. If you want a good flat iron with Babyliss you have to pay the big bucks! They usually run around $129.99 which is decent price for a good product! But when you are on a wedding budget you don't have a lot to spare. I came across a black 1 and a 1/2 inch ceramic flat iron from Babyliss at the beauty supply. I'm in LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE!!! It works so well with my hair, it was half the cost, and ceramic blades make my hair feel so soft. Which is the point of getting a ceramic flat iron. So if you're in the market and on a lower budget, I definitely recommend this flat iron!

I am a little embarrassed to post this crazy hair photo but I want you to see what I am working with and why I think this iron works so good:

2014 Beauty Favorites

Yesterday I posted my favorite hair & body products. Today - it's my favorite beauty products of the year.

MAKEUP FAVORITES OF 2014

MAKEUP FAVORITES OF 2014 by everydaygandb featuring nars cosmetics

Estee Lauder Double Wear All-Day Glow BB Makeup - This is a perfect cross between offering coverage and not being too heavy. It is more on the glowy side so I like to set mine with a setting powder. $38 USD

Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara - This offers black thick luscious lashes. I love it. $23 USD

NARS Blush in Madly - This was my go-to blush the entire year. It works in all the seasons and offers a pretty healthy glow. $30 USD

Urban Decay Naked2 Basics palette - Now this was my go-to eyeshadow palette. It offers warm matte colors and works well with all the seasons. There are enough colors to offer a base, crease, liner and brow color.  I also love that is is a lot smaller than the other Urban Decay makeup palettes making it more portable and on-the-go. $29 USD

NARS Creamy Concealer - Offers great coverage for the under eye and blemish areas. I was so busy last year and spending time at work a lot! I promise you this helped me fake that I looked awake.   $29 USD

NYX Soft Matte Lip Creme - These are just pure awesome. Affordable, opaque, creamy and matte. The colors are so great too.  I have multiple colors and love them all. $6 USD

What were your favorite beauty products this year? Let us know! We want to try new things this year.

Hair & Body 2014 Favorites

TWENTY FOURTEEN FAVORITES

So I went through my stash of beauty stuff I bought over the year and gathered some products that I loved and found myself reaching for often.

From left to right -

Philosophy Sunshine Grace - Unfortunately this is a limited edition and I am praying they bring it out again this summer. Smells super clean and lasts ALL DAY! $36 USD

Degree MotionSense in Shower Clean - my best friend Amanda introduced me to years ago. It is the only one I use because it works. It activates once you start moving, I have tried all the scents but the shower clean is my favorite. $5 USD

The Nume Curling Wand sets - I have the Titan3 version. I love them.  I have layers so I need to curl my shorter layers with a smaller wand. Instead of having multiple curling irons, I have one. Saves room in the bathroom and less clutter. As a side note their website lists this for a pretty high price. But you can usually find coupon codes all over the internet. Just google it. $199 USD (I paid like $95).

The Wet Brush - holy fabulous. I have ombre hair and my blonde ends tend to get knotted. This brush goes through the knots like butter. This is the cheapest and best hair investment I have ever made. $9 USD

Aveda Brilliant Creme - I use this as a finishing product when I curl my hair. It adds smoothness and shine. The best part, you only need a tiny amount. It really adds the finishing touch to any hairstyle. $19 USD

Sebastian Shaper Hairspray - I love this hairspray. It adds hold while leaving the hair soft and no sticky residue! $19 USD

Cat Eye Liner

Hey Dolls!

I decided to do a post on cat liner. I know its nothing new but it has taken me a long time to master the wing. Probably a few years actually and for the last year or two I have really nailed it down. Not to brag but I have gotten compliments on my eye liner a time or two. Not only that but my best friend has asked me to teach her how I do my liner a few times. I thought maybe she and some others would enjoy this how to! I love liner! I think it enhances the eye so much. I remember when I first started wearing makeup in middle school and I would only wear shadow and mascara. One day Ashley came to me and told me I should wear liner. I was really scared of liner! I thought I would look like raccoon eyes. I'm sure I did until I got the hang of it but I'm so glad I took the risk and tried it. Anyway back to cat liner. When I think of cat liner I think of feline and I think of fierce. Although you want to look fierce and sexy I think this type of liner shouldn't be overdone. It should simply be to enhance not detract from your eye. It's easy to get heavy handed but hopefully with my step by step you'll be able to perfect your own cat liner. Keep in mind my eye shape may be different than yours so you might have to adjust here and there.

Of course when it comes to liner there are so many types and brands you can choose from. I suggest you pick what works best for you or find your favorite product. I have been using the Loreal Linear for years. It was actually the first liquid liner my mom ever purchased for me when I started wearing makeup. I honestly have tried all liners and although I love my gel liner from Mac and pencil liners this liner is just my GO TO. I LOVE IT. My skin is so oily that liner can smudge on me in an instant. This liner is super black and goes no where. It's my fav! My liner bottle has been over loved but I took a picture so you can see what the bottle looks like:

So the first step is getting your liner in a straight line. For me I like my liner to sit a little heavy on the outer corner and this is part of the shape to make the wing anyway so this should work for any eye shape. You also can decide if you want your liner to go from corner to corner or start a third of the way in. Like so:

Step 2. At the outer corner of your straight line diagonally draw a line. Hint: Try to imagine connecting it to the end of your brow so you get the right angle.

Step 3. Take the end of the line back down to the corner of your eye so it makes a triangle shape.

Fill in where you need to and make sure your line is straight from the corner of your eye and connects flawlessly to your wing.

The finished look:
